Patti,

You old yin yang you. This is Ellen (Brantley) class of 1977. How and where the heck are you? Wondered about you for a long time. All these memories. Wow its great. Brings back another lifetime. I'm still in Mahomet and it has really changed!!! You CAN drink here now too. They just passed that ordinance a few months ago. No bars or anything but I did hear that someone, maybe a Taylor was going to open a bar/restaurant on main street sometime soon. It's great to catch up. Let me know how you are doing.

I remember the old Tasty Freeze. Best quarts of ice cream around and the price was perfect Wink . Going to Wagers Cafe for lunch or Rehg's drugstore for gum and green apple candy Jolly Ranchers. I remember cancer corner VERY well. The bridge at the lake, the raft, the diving boards, the sea slide, the LIFEGUARDS Shocked oh yeah baby. Now you can't even swim there. But what great memories. Those they can't take away from us.

I remember working at JD's pizza place. What a blast that was. Then every Friday night, Karen, Zelda, John, Jerry, Kathy and I would pile into Jerry's mom's van after work and head for the drive in. What a blast that was.

And my brother Jeff, Mike and Tony Pyle and Kelly and Stacey Miller making our own bike paths at LOW. Life just didn't get any better than that. Awwww...to go back and do it all again.

Do any of you remember the crunch coat topping they used to have a DQ and you would get it sprinkled on your icecream cone and it was in a wheel type dispenser? I used to get it also in charleston, IL when I went to EIU and now I can't find it anywhere! I loved that stuff. DQ was always the place to go after school events.

What about that weather alert siren? It was so loud, but at least everyone could hear it and get to a safe place in their house if there was a tornado warning, etc. I wish we had those in the town I live in now.

I can't tell you how many times I have went to Dairy Queen and wanted that crunch topping. I thought I was the only one who would remember that stuff. I worked at Dairy Queen my senior year of high school and we use to mix it with hot fudge and put it over and ice cream sundae. Man was that stuff good. If you find somewhere that has it, please post it here. I would love to have some again!!

I went to D.Q. when I was in Mahomet last summer. Still love their Peanut Buster Parfaits. I took my 5 year old daughter with me.

Do I remember correctly that they tested the tornado siren thing the first Tuesday of every month at 10 AM? It was something like that.

CStrange...After reading your post I decided to start my hunt for the elusive crunch cone. This is what I found...Guess we aren't the only ones that miss the treat!!!

And yep..the tornado sirens still sound the first Tuesday of the month. The weird thing is, I can hear them perfectly when they are testing them each month but when there is an actual warning, I've never heard them.
